Where Zambia Ku Chalo meets film

What we do

The Sona Film Institute champions the development of the Zambian film industry through programmes, funding opportunities and talent development. 

Our Programmes

The Moses Chinyeka Short Doc Fund launches early 2024 and will be open to filmmakers across Zambia - honouring the late freedom fighter, folktale author and politician, Moses Kayombo Ka Chinyeka.

The fund will foster local documentary filmmaking, providing one producer/director the opportunity to tell a local story, with funding and mentorship.

Girls Behind the Lens supports aspiring female producers and directors in the Zambian film industry through mentorship and resources.

Globally, women make up less than 10% of all off-screen talent. Through focused programmes like this, we can help change the narrative.
