The Moses Chinyeka Short Doc Fund is a yearly fund that launches in early 2024. It awards one Zambian emerging producer and/or director, K10,000 kwacha in funding to produce a 15-minute short documentary.

The fund honours the late freedom fighter, folktale author and politician, Moses Kayombo Ka Chinyeka who was a champion for preserving Zambian stories and history. His last book, ‘Konkha Vyavanda: Search for the Hidden’, is a collection of Luchazi folklore - and his final literary gift to the world.

The medium of film has been used to tell important stories around the world for over a century. Zambia has a rich culture and history which is mostly unexplored and undocumented. This fund fosters young filmmakers documenting Zambian stories and encourages the growth of documentary filmmaking in Zambia.

GIRLS BEHIND THE LENS
Women are under-represented in most film industries around the world, and we want to change that! Girls Behind The Lens provides off-screen Zambian talent the resources and support required to either break into the industry or progress further. We kick off the programme with a series of online workshops undertaken by female leaders in the film and TV industries around the world.
